Paul Klee was a German surrealist painter who is considered one of the most important artists of the 20th century. He was born in Münchenbuchsee, Switzerland, on December 18, 1879, and died in Muralto, Switzerland, on June 29, 1940. Klee's work is characterized by its use of bright colors and geometric shapes, and his paintings often explore the relationship between art and music.

Klee began his career as an artist in 1906, when he moved to Munich to study at the Academy of Fine Arts. He quickly became involved in the avant-garde art scene, and he soon began to develop his own unique style. In 1911, Klee met Wassily Kandinsky, and the two artists became close friends and collaborators. Kandinsky had a significant influence on Klee's work, and he helped to introduce him to the world of abstract art.

During the 1910s and 1920s, Klee's work became increasingly abstract. He began to use geometric shapes and bright colors to create paintings that were both visually appealing and intellectually stimulating. In 1924, Klee was appointed to the faculty of the Bauhaus, a renowned art school in Weimar, Germany. He taught at the Bauhaus for ten years, and he had a significant influence on the development of modern art.

In 1933, the Nazis came to power in Germany, and Klee was forced to leave the Bauhaus. He moved to Switzerland, where he lived for the rest of his life. Despite the political turmoil of the time, Klee continued to produce art, and he created some of his most important works during this period.

Klee died in Muralto, Switzerland, on June 29, 1940. He was 60 years old. Klee's work is now represented in museums and galleries around the world, and he is considered one of the most important artists of the 20th century.
