Hannah Mitchell was born in 1860 in a small town in Tennessee. She was the youngest of five children, and her family was very poor.

Despite her family's financial struggles, Hannah was determined to get an education. She attended school in a one-room schoolhouse, and she excelled in her studies.

After graduating from high school, Hannah moved to the city to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. She enrolled in a nursing school, and she quickly became one of the top students in her class.

After graduating from nursing school, Hannah worked as a nurse in a hospital for several years. She loved her job, and she was very good at it.

In 1890, Hannah decided to become a midwife. She believed that midwives could provide better care to women than doctors could.

Hannah opened her own midwifery practice, and she quickly became one of the most respected midwives in the city.

Hannah delivered more than 1,000 babies over the course of her career. She was a skilled midwife, and she was always available to help women in need.

Hannah was also a strong advocate for women's rights. She believed that women should have the right to choose whether or not to have children.

Hannah's work was instrumental in the passage of the Sheppard-Towner Maternity and Infancy Protection Act in 1921. This Act provided federal funding for maternity and infant care.

Hannah Mitchell was a remarkable woman who dedicated her life to helping others. She was a pioneer in the field of midwifery, and she made a significant contribution to the health of women and children.
