Charles Martin "Chuck" Jones was an American animator, director, producer, screenwriter, and voice actor. He is best known for his work on the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons for Warner Bros., where he created some of the most iconic and beloved characters in animation history, including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, and Wile E. Coyote.

Jones was born in Spokane, Washington, on September 21, 1912. He began drawing at an early age, and by the time he was in high school, he was already selling his cartoons to local newspapers. After graduating from high school, Jones attended the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles, where he studied animation. In 1933, he joined the staff of Leon Schlesinger Productions, which was then producing the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons for Warner Bros.

Jones quickly rose through the ranks at Schlesinger Productions, and by the late 1930s, he was directing his own cartoons. His early cartoons were often violent and slapstick, but he gradually developed a more sophisticated style of animation that was characterized by its wit, charm, and artistry.

In the 1940s and 1950s, Jones directed some of the most classic Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons ever made. These cartoons featured some of the most iconic characters in animation history, including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, and Wile E. Coyote. Jones's cartoons were also known for their innovative animation techniques, which often pushed the boundaries of what was possible in animation.

In the 1960s, Jones left Warner Bros. and formed his own production company, Chuck Jones Productions. He continued to produce cartoons for television and film, but he never achieved the same level of success that he had at Warner Bros.

Jones died in Los Angeles, California, on February 22, 2002, at the age of 89. He is survived by his wife, Marian, and four children.
