Despite his intelligence, Kiyotaka chooses to remain inconspicuous and avoid attracting attention. However, he soon finds himself drawn into the school's complex social hierarchy and must use his wits to survive.

The first volume of Classroom of the Elite introduces us to Kiyotaka and his classmates. The D-Class is a place where the students are constantly competing for points and trying to avoid being expelled. Kiyotaka quickly realizes that the school is not what it seems and that there is more to the D-Class than meets the eye.
